“A life of choice is a life of conscious action. A life of chance is a life of unconscious creation” said Neale Donald Walsh. Grant me a tinker and I propose “A sculpture of choice is a sculpture of conscious action. A sculpture of chance is a sculpture of unconscious creation. Throw in “Man’s task is to become conscious of the contents that press upward from the unconscious” (Carl Jung) and we loosely locate my current practice.  Costello fights paper. The bigger the paper the harder it is to get his arms all the way around. Therein lies the ambition.

Alexander Costello (b. London 1976) studied an MFA at The Slade School of Art, London, and a BA in Fine Art at Middlesex University, London.  He lives and works in London.
